Cubism
One of the most influential art movements of the twentieth century. In Cubism the subject matter is broken up, analyzed, and reassembled in an abstracted form. The movement follows Paul Cézanne's idea that nature should be treated in terms of the cylinder, sphere, and cone. Cubism was developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, who were greatly inspired by African sculpture, the painters Cézanne, and Seurat, and by the Fauvists. Some other Cubism followers were Alfred Henry Maurer, Fernand Léger and Max Weber.
