A revival of cultural awareness that took place during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. This period was characterized by a renewed interest in ancient Greek and Roman art and design, and included an emphasis on humans, their environment, science and philosophy. A few of the more famous Renaissance artists are Donatello, Giovanni Bellini, Sandro, Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian.
